We are so excited to announce our events programme for Welcome Week 2023! We have a jam-packed schedule with heaps of fun, engaging and accessible events. Our programme is designed with you in mind to give you an unforgettable start to your new chapter!
Our Venues
Most of our events will be taking place at our venues in South Kensington. We have three bars in the Imperial College Union building in Beit Quad. Union Bar, FiveSixEight and Metric. We have a dedicated postgrad bar, h-bar, which is in the Sherfield Building on the College campus. Reynolds over at Hammersmith is nearly at the end of a refurb and opening soon – watch this space!

Welcome Events
Now, let's take a quick dive into the Welcome Week Event Programme! We have 17 events scheduled over 9 days, kicking off on Friday 29 September with our huge annual Postgrad Palooza! Over the weekend there will be Halls Mixers at Beit Quad, allowing our first-year students the opportunity to get to know their neighbours. Our Postgrad Mixers will be over at the postgrads' very own h-bar.
Monday is a big day for Beit Quad, with our building transformed for a Market Day during the daytime and a fantastical, neon Glow Disco once the sun goes down!
Tuesday will host the first day of our Welcome Fair, which is dedicated to introducing you to your students' union and Clubs and Societies to join. In the evening we’re offering a chilled-out movie night, Beitflix & Chill, for those who fancy a relaxing evening in front of the big screen at our Union Cinema. Or to get familiar with some London nightlife, let us take you to the iconic Heaven nightclub for the Imperial x Heaven Takeover!
Our second Welcome Fair takes place on Wednesday and will be all about our partners, which means freebies, activities and competitions with ICU’s favourite brands! Over at Beit, our International Café will welcome new and returning students who have come to study from abroad for a casual coffee meetup. When the evening rolls around, Beit Quad will be hosting the first of its FREE weekly club night, Wednesday @ Beit!
We have some interactive activities on Thursday. Our delightful Wine Tasting Night with a professional sommelier will be over at h-bar. ICU favourites, BINGO LINGO are back and be getting silly over at Metric, for an absolutely hilarious evening!
Your Friday night at ICU will be full of singalong nostalgia as we rewind for a massive throwback party! For the pinnacle of Welcome Week our resident night, DECEIBEL, returns to Metric for a corker of an opening night... DECIBEL does 90s v 00s Bangers!
The weekend will roll around in no time at all and we have a last couple of events to see you through to Monday. There are two afternoon sessions of Bottomless Prosecco on Saturday, and for the final night of the programme on Sunday 8 October, a relaxing and joyful Comedy Night with three of standup’s finest!
Welcome Week is a chance to connect and forge bonds with your new Imperial community and our events are here to help you do just that! We hope you make the most of these great opportunities to get to know our venues, which we know will be central to many of the memories you make during your time with Imperial College Union.

Tickets go on sale on Friday 18 August at midday, except for Halls Mixers, which will go on sale once accommodation arrangements are complete.
