Support for our student community
The horrific events that have occurred, and continue to occur, in Israel and Palestine have shocked and distressed the Imperial community.
We stand in full solidarity with all students who have been affected by the conflict.
We condemn the proscribed terrorist organisation Hamas and their attacks on Israeli civilians.
We condemn all acts of violence against Palestinian civilians.
Imperial College Union is here to support anyone who may need it, and we have reached out personally to student groups who are impacted. The following services are available to all students:
- College counselling and mental health services, and particular support regarding grief and loss.
- If these events are impacting your studies, contact our Advice Service who can support with mitigation requests via advice@imperial.ac.uk.
- The Chaplaincy, who can be of support to students of all faiths and none.
- Your Personal Tutor.
- If you live in College accommodation, the Wardening team can support you.
- If you are concerned about your immediate safety on campus, or require out of College hours support, contact College Security or access them via the Safezone app.
ICU are concerned about a significant rise in racism, antisemitism, and islamophobia in the UK. We unequivocally condemn any acts of abuse, violence, or hate. If you have been subject to, or have witnessed, any form of discrimination on our campuses, we encourage you to report this to the College if you feel able to.
Finally, we ask that students come together with compassion, kindness and care for each other and for those affected. It can be hard to know how to support people who are grieving, because everyone grieves differently. Fundamentally, it is important to centre each other’s humanity, and remember that Israeli, Jewish, Muslim, and Palestinian students should not be held accountable for the conflict.
Our campuses should be safe spaces for all students, and we are here for you.
