As we farewell two of our amazing 2023/24 OTs, Yi and Andreea, we also welcome two new fresh and friendly faces to the team for 2024/25! Please give a warm welcome to Emina and Nico as your two incoming officers for the year, joining our ongoing team from 2023/24 of Camille, Steph and Christian!
How did they get here you ask? You voted them in! In March this year, over 60,000 Imperial student votes were cast to choose your 2024/25 student leaders. Your Officer Trustees were some of the many positions students voted on as you chose your representation for the year ahead.
Read on to check out the exciting visions your OTs have in store for the upcoming year!
Looking forward...
Camille – Union President, returning for 2024/25
Looking forward to next year, the University is pushing forward with the development of the White City campus. I've thoroughly enjoyed contributing to this to ensure the quality of the space and amenities is as good as, if not better than, in South Kensington. I’m always keen for new insights and feedback from those already based in White City, so please reach out!
The new site is a fantastic opportunity to finally have a campus centred around green space (unlike South Ken). I’m excited to not only advocate for biodiversity in White City next year, but on all our campuses (and that’s including our medical campuses!).
It’s no secret our postgraduate community is less represented at the Union. Working with some of our PhD students to create a London-wide lobbying movement to increase the UKRI London allowance for PGR students is high on my priority list. I’m buzzing to get started!
Bring on another year x
Stephanie – Deputy President (Finance & Services), returning for 2024/25
Re-running as DPFS was a no-brainer for me because I have truly enjoyed working with our students to make their experience at Imperial better. I’m really looking forward to collaborating with our students to deliver safe and inclusive events, plus accessible services that truly enhance their lives at Imperial and bring our community together.
So, if you see me around in the year ahead, please do come and have a chat!
Christian – Deputy President (Clubs & Societies), returning for 2024/25
Looking forward to next year, I will be retaining sustainability as a key objective, with a focus on reviewing our engagement principles for clubs and societies, as well as developing the student activity sustainability framework.
Alongside this, I will be working to ensure that timeframes and processes for clubs and societies are greatly improved, as well as working to improve training, support and transparency for all societies, their members, and their leaders.
The past year has been a non-stop adventure, and I can’t wait to keep working to ensure that the experience of every student at Imperial in clubs and societies is as rewarding and fulfilling as possible.
Emina – Deputy President (Education) incoming for 2024/25
I am extremely excited to be your Deputy President (Education) this year and can't wait to start working with the reps to improve the academic experience at Imperial. Ever since joining 4 years ago, feedback quality and timelines have always been an issue, which is something I am aiming to make a dent in during my time as DPE.
Bringing my experience as a recent graduate to the table, I believe it is more important than ever for students to graduate feeling prepared to tackle the job market. To ensure this, I look forward to exploring collaboration opportunities with alumni from various fields earlier in students' degrees to provide better access to the options available to them. These are just a few of my plans for the coming year so stay tuned to see what else we're cooking up!
Nico – Deputy President (Welfare) incoming for 2024/25
As the incoming Deputy President (Welfare), I'm excited to keep working towards a welcoming environment and further strengthen our sense of community. I hope to facilitate more recreational spaces and enhance student and union communication by introducing more channels.
Recognising the importance of aligning with student values, I will also focus on sustainable initiatives that directly impact student welfare, promoting a campus culture that prioritises both well-being and environmental responsibility.
Additionally, I'm looking forward to representing students' needs and implementing the mental health strategy laid out by the current DPW and Mental Health Officer.
My goal is to ensure every student feels at home and supported. I am also dedicated to fostering a safe, inclusive, multicultural environment by organising cultural events, promoting diversity training, and ensuring all voices are heard.
Please do reach out for a chat or just to give some feedback.
