Oh, what a week it’s been!
Last week, we welcomed all of you (back) to Imperial with a full week of fun, friendly faces, and of course, freebies.
Welcome Fair is always one of my favourite days during Welcome Week.
From the hustle and bustle of all 300+ of our stalls to learning about our student groups and the exhilarating things they do, it’s safe to say the rain did not dampen our Welcome Week spirit! Going from a busy day at Welcome Fair to an even busier night at Hello Heaven was certainly one of the most exciting days I had.
My highlight of the week was sharing my personal journey as an international student at the International Student Welcome over the weekend. The sharing itself was a cathartic experience for me as I got to look back and reflect on everything that got me to where I am today.
It was truly heart warming when some of you chose to share your personal stories with me after hearing my journey to Imperial. Hearing about the parts of yourself you saw in my journey and being able to share the experience of being international students is something I will cherish.
It really resonated with me and reaffirmed my motivations for why I became your Officer Trustee in the first place. One of my aims this year is to deliver more inclusive events, and I’m excited to help push and foster this welcoming and diverse space here at Imperial, where everybody feels comfortable and safe.
It also warmed my heart when I saw all of you come together to mingle and chat with each other at our International Gathering event, and overall, just having a good time!
Speaking of good times, we’ve got plenty of that lined up for the year ahead! There are a lot of exciting events due to take place this term, with many of them happening in our upgraded venues across campuses.
If you haven’t been to our venues yet, we’ve given them a facelift over the summer and introduced lower bar prices (hello £3 pints for students), plus a huge range of non-alcoholic options available too!
It has been an absolute blast meeting some of you over the past week, and for those of you I have yet to meet, be sure to come by and say hi!
I’ll see you around campus or you can always reach me at dpfs@imperial.ac.uk :)
