50K Hike- Donation!

This year, the 50K hike is in support of DEWA (Deaf Ethnic Women’s Association) *This is donation to the GROUP walking 50K and not an individual* What your donation will be used for, as stated by the charity : At DEWA (Deaf Ethnic Women’s Association), we are seeing a significant increase in the number of Deaf women reaching out for support through our drop-in sessions. Many of these women face multiple barriers when trying to access essential services—particularly due to a lack of British Sign Language (BSL) interpreters. Many public services, including healthcare, legal, and social services, do not provide BSL interpreters or fail to do so consistently. This leaves Deaf women unable to fully understand or participate in appointments that directly affect their wellbeing and safety. As a result, DEWA steps in to fill this critical gap—booking and funding professional BSL interpreters so that women can attend their appointments with the communication support they need and deserve. We also provide direct emotional and practical support during these sessions. However, as demand grows, our resources are stretched. Donations are urgently needed to: -Fund BSL interpreters for an increasing number of appointments -Expand our drop-in support services to meet growing demand -Ensure Deaf minoritised women have access to safe, inclusive, and accessible support -Allow us to continue delivering frontline, community-based services that public systems often overlook Your support helps ensure that no Deaf woman is left isolated or unsupported simply because of communication barriers.
