Calling all Reps, LCOs & Constituent Union Presidents come along to our first ever Student Voice Conference.
Taking place all day on Wednesday 12th February, the Student Voice Conference aims to enrich you with opportunities to network, learn something new and gain an insight into how your role as a rep can support you in the future. See below a list of all the sessions and what they are about.
Democracy Review
Shaping the future of student voice at ICU.
Join us to find out the outcomes of ICU’s democracy review and how this might reshape your roles as student leaders. The review is transforming how we represent students through as well as our representative structures.
Don’t miss out on this opportunity to be one of the first to hear about outcomes, next steps and shape the changes!
Using your experience as a student leader to unlock careers and opportunities
Learn how the skills you’ve developed as a student leader can help you in your post-University life through hearing from ICU and University experts, & guest speakers. Whether your journey will continue into an internship, full-time career, or into postgraduate research academia, in this session, we will also help you to practice articulating the skills you’ve gained as a student leader to help open doors to future opportunities.
Higher education policy and what it means for you
Join this session for a breakdown of the Higher Education policy environment. We'll explore questions such as what does the new government mean for higher education? What key issues and opportunities does the sector face? And most importantly, how does your role as a rep fit into this landscape? This session will give you the knowledge to get involved in influencing and engaging with policy as a student rep & we will look at how to use data and results from student surveys to create positive change.
Campaign & Influencing Strategies: Be the Change!
As students and student leaders, you hold the power to shape the world around you! Whether it’s tackling issues on campus, influencing decisions at a national level, or standing up for what you believe in, this session will show you how to turn your ideas into action. We will be focusing on mastering the basics of campaigning to deliver results, thinking big & local, hands-on skills and leading with confidence.
We want you to be inspired by real-world examples of successful student-led campaigns, collaborate with other passionate changemakers & gain the tools and confidence to tackle the issues that matter most to you.
💡 Remember: Every great movement starts with one idea and one leader. Let’s make it happen—together.
Leadership Elections
With Leadership Elections approaching in a few weeks, in this session we will cover all the things you need to know for this year's elections, especially as nominations would have just opened! We will outline all the positions available (including the full-time positions), what the roles and responsibilities are and how the election works (process, timeline, manifestos, campaigning – THE LOT). We will also delve into all the do’s and don’ts and you will have the opportunity to ask any questions ahead of the election as well put some of our top tips into practice. This is the place to go if you are thinking of being a candidate in the Leadership Elections 2025.
